- Title: Community Engaged Leader Award
A second-year medical student from Vestal, New York, Kelly Hao’s dedication to community engagement has been shaped by both personal experiences and a commitment to serving communities in need. Originally drawn to community work through her numerous leadership roles in the American Medical Women’s Association, Kelly has expanded her involvement by becoming a Resident Advisor and participating in numerous Buck-I-SERV trips. Her dedication has continued to deepen through her role with Asian Women’s Health Specialty Clinic at Rardin Family Practice Center, where she is dedicated to helping to break down cultural and linguistic barriers to healthcare access for Asian and Asian American women. Kelly has also co-led health education initiatives with Linden Fresh Market, emphasizing hands-on learning experiences for local families. As she continues her medical education, Kelly remains driven by the belief that healthcare must center dignity and empathy.
