Iresha Jayasinghe
- Title: Outstanding Graduate/Professional Student
Iresha Jayasinghe traveled from Ampitiya, Sri Lanka for her graduate studies in Environment and Natural Resources. After the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, she found her community as a Council of Graduate Students (CGS) senator, where she serves as a member of the International Student Affairs Committee. In her CGS work, Iresha has advocated for international students by organizing a tax webinar and working to pass a resolution to address the equity challenges posed by English language test requirements. She has also been involved with Student Experience and Engagement Delegates (SEEDs) and the OSU chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) since 2020, where she has built her leadership skills and gained confidence as a woman of color and leader in the STEM field.
