November 2024 General Election
The general election, which includes the presidential race, will be held on November 5, 2024 for registered and eligible voters. Learn more about what's on the ballot and how you can vote in this election below!
What's on the ballot?
In addition to presidential candidates, voters will vote on various issues and candidates for offices outside of the presidency. Where you are registered and plan to vote will determine what the issues are on your ballot. Registered voters in Ohio are recommended to view their sample ballot to review the issues and candidates they will be voting on the Ohio Secretary of State's website. Students registered and planning to vote outside of Ohio should locate their state's voter information at vote.gov to view their sample ballot and learn about the issues and candidates in their home state.
When are the General Election Deadlines in Ohio?
October 7 – Last day to submit or update your voter registration for November 5 election
October 8 – Absentee voting by mail and early in-person voting begins
- October 29 – Ohio absentee ballot application must be received by the Board of Elections in the county where you are registered to vote
- November 3 – Early in-person voting ends
- November 4 – Mailed absentee ballot must be postmarked
- November 5 – Deadline to hand-deliver your absentee ballot at your county board of elections
November 5 – General Election Day with polls open from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

How can I Register, Vote, and Learn More?
On January 6, 2023, Governor Mike DeWine signed into law Ohio House Bill 458, which made several changes to election laws, including changes to voter identification and absentee voting timeline requirements for all future Ohio elections. Those changes went into effect in April 2023. Please utilize the resources below to learn more and develop a voting plan for upcoming elections.
