A Biology major from Dublin, Ohio, Sara Alsammerai is committed to creating change for her community. After a family medical experience drove her to learn more about pediatric health care, she dove headfirst into BuckeyeThon, where she has served as the Vice President of Advancement. She has also gotten involved with the Health Equities Scholars program at the College of Nursing, where she worked on a project to support marginalized communities, especially refugees, who were recently diagnosed with a chronic illness. She has also given back to communities as the chair of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), where she bridged her passions for healthcare and supporting under-resourced communities to highlight healthcare disparities for the Middle Eastern population. As she continues on her path towards becoming a physician, Sara is ready to make a lasting impact on both the medical field and underserved communities.
