National Society of Black Women in Medicine

  • Title: Outstanding New Student Organization Award

The Ohio State Chapter of the National Society of Black Women in Medicine was created to increase the recruitment and retention of Black women pursuing broad careers in medicine. The organization’s mission includes a commitment to supporting current and future healthcare professionals and scientists by promoting attainability through educational resources, unity and mentorship. In their first year on campus, the organization has cultivated more confident and self-assured women, equipped with the resources to make meaningful contributions to Ohio State’s community—whether in research, academics, clinical care or volunteering. NSBWM has hosted events such as their Personal Statement Workshop, a Professionalism in Healthcare program, and have collaborated with other organizations such as the First-Generation Pre-Physician Assistant Club.
