  • Title: Outstanding Senior Award

Habib Elias Akouri hails from Broadview Heights, Ohio and studies Neuroscience. As the President of Remote Area Medical, he launched a non-profit partnership that enabled the organization to host a free healthcare clinic serving almost 400 Columbus residents. Through his work with the Transitionary Options in Postsecondary Settings (TOPS) Program, he builds mentoring relationships with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities studying at OSU. He has also worked as an undergraduate research assistant in the Neuroscience Research Laboratory, investigating the impact of early-life adversity on neurodevelopment. These experiences taught him a powerful lesson: all meaningful projects succeed through team efforts. His commitment to teamwork will serve him well as he pursues a joint medical degree and Master of Public Health to address the shortcomings in the healthcare system.
