Eric Sowers

A Columbus native, Eric Sowers is pursuing a PhD in Social Work and is driven by a commitment to service and advocacy. At Ohio State, Eric found purpose in mentoring and advocating for Justice-Involved Veterans through Veterans Treatment Court initiatives, where he became a Mentor Coordinator to better help veterans navigate the justice system and overcome barriers to reintegration in society. As a leader within the Student Veterans Association, he helped to revitalize the organization, creating professional development opportunities and fostering a strong community for military-connected students. Eric’s work bridges research and practice, and he is committed to creating policies that prioritize rehabilitation and holistic support for those who need it most. Through education, mentorship and advocacy, Eric strives to empower others and create lasting impact. After graduation, Eric plans to use his research to address the unique challenges that Justice-Involved Veterans face.
