• Title: Outstanding Faculty/Staff Mentorship

Amy Custer is making an impact on all of the Dental students she has mentored here at OSU. Amy had multiple nominators this year, both formal and informal mentees and tutorees of hers who recognize her willingness to resist the competitive culture of the Dental School. She empathetically recognizes the challenges and actively listened to the concerns of the students she supports, even as she is also working towards her own academic goals. Amy’s interpersonal strengths means that she is particularly excellent at providing advice to other Dental students on issues of patient interaction skills, calming anxious patients, and building rapport. However, she is also a leader in hands-on skills labs and is able to flex her technical prowess. Amy has undoubtedly made an impact on the students she has supported that will radiate into the future with each and every one of her dental patients.
