• Title: Outstanding Student Organization Advisor

Dr. Aeriel D.M. Leonard is an Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering. She is an advisor of an organization winning several awards this year: the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Dr. Leonard has intentionally gone the extra mile to work closely with SWE student leadership and general body members. Throughout her two years as an advisor, she has attended weekly meetings with the executive board to guide all 18 officers in their events and initiatives directed towards SWE members. She never shies away from providing her feedback during executive board meetings and always proposes solutions when handling sensitive situations. In addition to her professional guidance, has also made caring efforts to be present with the SWE officers personally. Dr. Leonard acts as a role model for SWE members as a high-achieving woman who has made the graceful transition during maternity leave and continues to advance in her career supporting other young female engineers.
