Callie Thayer
- Title: Outstanding Student Organization New Member
Callie Thayer is a junior from Wadsworth, Ohio studying Psychology. She is being recognized for her work with Project PEER, an organization that provides humanizing, empathetic, and empowering educational experiences to incarcerated people in Central Ohio. Callie stood out amongst her peer new members in the Madison Correctional Institution Learning Community. Her nominators says that “she displays the thoughtfulness, authenticity, and integrity of someone who has been engaging with incarcerated folks for longer than she’s been alive. Project PEER’s mission, in a nutshell, is to do precisely what Callie does. Cultivate empathy, humanity, kindness, and respect in ways that promote independent thought, acceptance, and paradigm-shattering connection between incarcerated people and the greater academic community. Callie is the ideal Project PEER member. I feel incredibly grateful that she was drawn to our organization. I’m excited to see her continue to thrive in our organization.”
