Ahmed Elsharkawy
- Title: Outstanding Senior Award
Ahmed Elsharkawy is a Biology major hailing from Westlake, Ohio, a USG University Senator, and the Co-President and Co-Founder of the Arab Medical Society here at Ohio State. Serving as University Senator provided Ahmed with the unique opportunity to engage with individuals from across Ohio State’s campus and advocate for policies to improve the undergraduate student experience. He also served two consecutive terms on the Arts and Sciences Dean’s Student Advisory Board where he played a role in helping to shape the college’s master plan. Seeing a gap in support for Arab-identifying students in the medical field, Ahmed also co-founded the Arab Medical Society (AMS) to promote awareness of health disparities in Arab communities. His work in AMS has connected medical students with mentors in healthcare with similar background and experiences and has also engaged actively with the community through service opportunities. Over the next year, Ahmed will be preparing for medical school while also serving as the Clinical Manager at Neuronoff Inc. to support the development of neurostimulation devices for pain management.
