Leadership Week

What is Leadership Week?

Leadership Week is a university-wide collaboration to strengthen the culture of student leadership at Ohio State. Whether you have lots of leadership experience or are new to the concept, we encourage you to attend at least one event this week to strengthen your leadership abilities in one or several of the leadership themes explored throughout the week. This year's leadership themes are career development, community engagement, holistic wellness, and personal exploration.

When is Leadership Week?

Leadership Week Certification Program

Want to be a certified leader? The Leadership Week Certification Program encourages students to take advantage of as many Leadership Week programs as possible and recognizes their efforts!

  • If you attend 3 or more sessions throughout Leadership Week, you will receive a Leadership Week Silver Certification recognizing your efforts in leadership development. 

  • If you attend 5 or more sessions throughout Leadership Week, you will receive a Leadership Week Gold Certification recognizing your efforts in leadership development.

Monday, September 28

Lunch and Learn: Personal Exploration

POV: Leadership Isn't What the Algorithm Told You

  • 4 - 5 p.m in the Senate Chambers, Ohio Union
  • Leadership advice is everywhere, from TikTok reels and LinkedIn posts to motivational quotes and viral videos. But how much of that advice prepares you for real leadership? In this interactive session, we'll explore popular leadership trends, unpack the assumptions behind them and discuss how they shape our expectations of leadership. Through reflection and conversation, participants will consider different points of view on leadership culture and develop a more intentional approach to leading.

Influence for Good: Servant Leadership and Persuasion in Public Health

  • 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. in 150 Cunz Hall (1841 Neil Ave #250)
  • This interactive workshop introduces servant leadership as a way to lead by serving others and building community. Students will explore how servant leaders use persuasion ethically by establishing credibility, finding common ground, presenting evidence and connecting emotionally. Through discussion and a persuasive decision-making challenge, students will practice communication, collaboration and decision-making skills that can be applied in public health and beyond.

How to Sell Involvement and Leadership on Your Resume

STEP Information Session

  • This session is designed for first-year students who would like to learn more about the Second-year Transformational Experience Program (STEP) which they can join for their second year at Ohio State. The information session will share more about STEP and how the cohort experience enhances leadership development, as well as how STEP participants are eligible for up to $2,000 in funding for a hands-on leadership experience.

REACH© Out and Save a Life - Undergraduate Students

  • Anyone can help prevent suicide by learning the risks, warning signs, and how to intervene. REACH© is the name of the OSU suicide prevention gatekeeper training program designed to help the OSU community learn how to recognize warning signs, engage with empathy, ask directly about suicide, communicate hope and help suicidal individuals access care and treatment. This session is intended for Undergraduate students.

Rest as Ritual: Recharging Through Recovery

  • Just as muscles grow stronger through recovery, student leaders become stronger when they make space to rest and recharge. This session reframes rest as an essential leadership practice. Using health and fitness-inspired frameworks, student leaders will explore strategies to manage stress, prevent burnout, protect their energy and build healthier habits that sustain their leadership and impact.
