  • Title: Outstanding Senior Award

Clovis Westlund is a Public Affairs & Sociology major from Shaker Heights. A member of Buckeye Leadership Fellows, the Founder of Students for Better Schools & Futures and a member of the inaugural Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program, Clovis has always been intrigued by the complexities of education systems. Using this interest, they have become deeply involved with education policy development and advocacy efforts, through the Ohio Young People’s Platform and as a member of the Global Arts + Humanities Discovery Theme (GAHDT) Society of Fellows program. As a member of Buckeye Leadership Fellows, they have had the opportunity to develop the communication, presentation and relationship-building skills necessary to work towards their lifelong goals. After graduating, Clovis will be working with Teach for America to gain direct classroom experience and better understand the American public school system before they pursue a PhD in Education Policy and Program Evaluation to contribute to policy-relevant research on specialized education equity programs.
