Get Involved Where You Live

Curious how to get involved on campus in the residence halls? Learn how getting involved where you live can help you connect with peers, grow as a person, and learn transferable skills to benefit your future. We’ll discuss the opportunities available through Housing and Residence Education, provide tips for reflection to do before applying to opportunities, and sharing the ways in which you can grow as a leader through these opportunities.

Leveraging Handshake

Do you want to connect with employers, research job and internship opportunities, and even chat with students who have already had your dream job or internship? Every Ohio State student can explore job and internship opportunities through Handshake. Leveraging Handshake is a free workshop for all Ohio State students, hosted by Buckeye Careers in the Office of Student Life. You will learn how to make the most out of Handshake to find a part time job, internship, or full time job. This workshop will empower you to research potential employers, and to use Handshake to contact them. You will also learn how to use Handshake for career exploration and to find out what other students with similar majors and interests have done.

Women's Career Journeys - Focusing on Authenticity, Balance, and Challenge

Women’s career journeys have steadily become a topic of focus during the Covid-19 pandemic and continue to be spotlighted moving into a new normal post-lockdown. This session will look to emphasize female-identifying individual’s career journeys with a focus on authenticity, balance, and challenge. Participants can expect to spend time centering on their values and desires for when entering their full-time career. Female-identifying individuals from all colleges, departments, and majors are welcomed to engage in conversation.

Showcasing Leadership Experiences on Your Resume

In this session, we will talk through effective strategies to highlight your past and future leadership experiences on your resume. We will also talk about how past internships, jobs, or clubs -- which you may not see as formal leadership experiences -- can be framed to help a future employer see your leadership skills and potential. You do not need a resume already written to attend.

How Leaders Leverage Technology

What is one of the top skills employers want to see on resumes? You guessed it, leadership. In this workshop you will practice sharing your leadership story and explore ways to both utilize the leadership skills you already have and develop new skills through an internship experience.

Create a Personal Brand with Adobe Express

Design Lab at COhatch Gateway

Get creative with Adobe Express. Participants will learn how to produce graphic designs, edit videos and build web pages. These skills are highly transferrable to internship and job searches, student organizations, academic projects, and creative projects or hobbies!

STEP-ing Up Your Resume and Interview

3-4pm

VIRTUAL

This session is open to all Second-year Transformational Experience Program (STEP) participants, whether you are currently in STEP or have completed a STEP Signature Project. Participating in STEP engages students outside the classroom in experiential learning opportunities to supplement what is studied in the classroom. As a STEP participant, it is beneficial to understand how to discuss your time in STEP while in interviews for an internship, graduate school, or full-time career opportunity. This session will focus on leadership skills gained in STEP, how to include STEP on your resume, and how to highlight your STEP experience in an interview.

Be True To You: Leadership and Vulnerability

In this workshop, students will learn to embrace discomfort and vulnerability as strengths. College students are exposed to many opportunities to develop their leadership efficacy, through student organizations, community service, and even academic engagements like research or living-learning communities. By embracing vulnerability, students will feel empowered to be their authentic selves which will translate into better outcomes both personally and professionally.
