  • This service-learning trip will allow students to experience the sourcing of coffee and the lifecycle of coffee from farm to cup.
  • They will work directly with local coffee farmers to learn how coffee is grown, harvested, processed, procured, shipped, further processed, roasted, packaged, brewed and consumed.
  • They will also have the opportunity to engage in service activities by participating in the building of a home for a local farmer, learn and assist in training a water filtration program, visit a school and a soccer practice, and visit a new Serve Hope facility that is in development. The facility includes that new school location, a soccer academy, and gym.
  • Students would also have an opportunity to become familiar in socio-cultural differences, issues of smallholder subsistence farmers and current approaches to poverty alleviation, community transformation, impact measurement, traceability and environmental impact mitigation.
  • Please note: A valid passport is required at time of application for this INTERNATIONAL trip. Passports must have expiration date of at least 6 months after the return date of the trip (ex: June 2025).
