• Title: Outstanding Student Organization Advisor

Dr. Mary E. Thomas is a Professor in the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and the co-Director of the Ohio Prison Education Exchange Project. As the faculty advisor for Project PEER, Dr. Thomas has consistently and wholeheartedly supported the organization's mission, members, and endeavors. She has personally driven members to prison facilities for Learning Community meetings, walks members through every step of the Learning Community establishment process, connected the organization with grant funds, and provided members with books to help us better understand prison education paradigms. She has given her time, resources, energy, network, and more to support Project PEER at a level that far exceeds the standard responsibilities of an advisor.
